Bilal Khursheed Full Stack Developer

I build

Available for freelance & contract work — remote worldwide

About Me

Full stack developer, 6+ years, Islamabad — building web, SaaS and AI products for clients across North America, Europe and the Middle East.

I'm Bilal Khursheed, a full stack developer with 6+ years of professional experience building and shipping production software. I work primarily in the TypeScript ecosystem — Next.js, NestJS, React, React Native, Node.js and AWS — with PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Elasticsearch behind them.

Today I own the interactive mapping experience at Zoneomics, a GIS zoning platform used by Redfin, CBRE, Moody's and Cushman & Wakefield, where the work cut average property research from three days to under three minutes for 10,000+ users.

Since 2019 I've worked across four product companies and taken on 62 projects — 34 on Upwork, 10 through my agency, 10 on Fiverr and 8 on Freelancer — for clients in the US, Spain, Brazil, Indonesia and Russia. That's 5,439 tracked hours and $100K+ earned on Upwork alone, at a 5.0 rating. I also run CodeBaxh, my software development studio.

Two threads run through most of that work. The first is payments — Stripe and Pagar.me integrations, subscription state machines, VAT at checkout, and the idempotent webhook handling that stops customers being double-charged. The second is AI: RAG pipelines and multi-agent systems over documents too large for any context window, and speech-plus-LLM analysis on live call data.

Most of my work is not greenfield. It's inheriting a live system that already has users and revenue, understanding it, making it stable and fast, and then shipping the next thing on the roadmap without breaking what's already there. If that's the problem you have, get in touch.

How I Work

The same four steps on every engagement, whether it's a two-week fix or a six-month build.

Discovery

A free call to understand the product, the users and the constraint that actually matters. If I'm not the right fit, I'll say so on that call.

Written proposal

Scope, milestones, timeline and price in writing before any code is written. No open-ended hourly billing unless that's what you asked for.

Ship in increments

Work lands on a staging environment you can click through every week. You see progress continuously, not in one delivery at the end.

Handover

Documented code, deployment runbook and a walkthrough. You own the repository and the infrastructure — nothing is locked to me.

Resume

Six years across four product companies, plus freelance and contract work since 2019.

Summary

Bilal Khursheed

Full stack developer with 6+ years designing, building and operating production applications across web, mobile and cloud. Comfortable owning a feature end to end — database schema, API, frontend and deployment — and equally comfortable taking over someone else's codebase and making it stable.

Services

What I'm hired to do, in the order clients most often ask for it.

Web Application Development

Responsive, SEO-friendly web apps built with Next.js, React or Angular on a Node.js, NestJS or Strapi backend — server-side rendering where it helps ranking, and a build you can deploy yourself.

SaaS Platform Development

Multi-tenant SaaS from the ground up: authentication, role-based access control, subscription billing, admin tooling and the usage analytics you'll need before your first investor asks.

Payments & Billing Integration

Stripe and Pagar.me integrations, subscription and checkout flows, VAT and tax handling, and the part most people get wrong — idempotent webhooks that survive retries, timeouts and duplicate events without double-charging anyone.

AI & LLM Integration

Retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, multi-agent systems and chat assistants grounded in your own data. Shipped: a legal platform that queries 500–1000 page contracts via RAG over a Qdrant vector database, and a call-analysis product combining speech recognition with GPT intent scoring.

Mobile App Development

Cross-platform iOS and Android apps in React Native from one codebase — including push notifications, offline handling, and the App Store and Google Play submission process.

API & Backend Development

REST and GraphQL APIs, database schema design, background job processing and third-party integrations — documented, tested and versioned so other teams can build against them.

Cloud & DevOps

Deployment on AWS (EC2, Elastic Beanstalk, Lambda, S3), DigitalOcean or Netlify, with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring and a cost review so your infrastructure bill doesn't quietly double.

Headless CMS & Content Platforms

Strapi and WordPress content platforms with custom content types, editorial roles and a clean API — so marketing can publish without opening a pull request.

Legacy Rescue & Migration

Inheriting a codebase nobody wants to touch: audit, document, stabilise, then migrate — a legacy frontend to Next.js, a monolith to NestJS, or a struggling database to a schema that scales.

Case Studies

Four projects in more detail — the problem, what I built, and what changed as a result.

Zoneomics — GIS Zoning Intelligence SaaS

Senior Full Stack Developer · Oct 2022 – Present · Next.js, TypeScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL, Mapbox GIS, Stripe, AWS

The problem

Property research used to mean visiting multiple city planning sites, queuing at government offices and paying for each report by hand. Land-use zoning data in the United States is fragmented across thousands of municipal authorities, each publishing in a different format — so appraisers and investors were losing days to a data-gathering problem before any analysis started.

What I built

  • The interactive Mapbox GIS mapping experience end to end — parcel-level zoom, zoning overlays and land parcel data — plus real-time zoning regulation search across 50+ cities.
  • Web scrapers (Puppeteer) that pull zoning data from public municipal sources, replacing entire legacy municipal lookup workflows.
  • A Stripe-powered payment system — Checkout plus webhook handling — covering both one-time report purchases and subscriptions.
  • The SaaS dashboard for subscriptions, purchases and saved searches, with role-based authentication and deep-filter search.
  • Geospatial data storage and query tuning across PostgreSQL and MongoDB, and technical SEO for programmatically generated city and zoning pages.

Outcome: Average property research dropped from 3 days to under 3 minutes, and the platform scaled to 10,000+ users across 50+ cities. It's used by enterprise clients including Redfin, CBRE, Moody's and Cushman & Wakefield.

AI Legal Contract Analysis — RAG & Multi-Agent Platform

Architect & Developer · Next.js, Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Qdrant, OpenAI, Google Gemini

The problem

Reviewing a 500–1000 page commercial contract is a job measured in hours or days, and the answer you need is usually one clause buried somewhere in it. Generic AI chat tools fail here: the document doesn't fit in a context window, and an ungrounded model will confidently invent a clause that isn't there.

What I built

  • Large-scale document processing with automated structure repair and parsing — handling complex formatting, multi-clause layouts, tables and cross-references across 500–1000 page contracts.
  • A retrieval-augmented generation pipeline that pulls the relevant clauses from a Qdrant vector database before generating an answer, so every response is grounded in the actual document.
  • Advanced retrieval strategies including query expansion and multi-step document search, turning raw PDFs into a queryable legal knowledge base.
  • A multi-agent workflow splitting the job across specialised agents for document processing, retrieval, query understanding and response generation — improving both accuracy and scalability.

Outcome: Contract analysis cut from hours or days down to minutes, with clause comparison and precise legal queries over documents that are far too large to fit in any model's context window.

Multi-Tenant SaaS MVP — Zero to Production in 11 Weeks

Architect & Developer · NestJS, Next.js, TypeScript, Stripe, PostgreSQL, AWS

The problem

A client needed the full commercial layer of a SaaS product — not a prototype — in a fixed window: tenants, roles, subscriptions and billing that could take real money without breaking.

What I built

  • A subscription state machine handling upgrades, downgrades and cancellations, so billing state stays correct through every transition.
  • Idempotent Stripe webhook processing, so billing events never double-fire even under retries and duplicate deliveries.
  • Role-based access control across a multi-tenant data model.
  • Deployment and operation on AWS.

Outcome: Delivered to production in 11 weeks, and the client renewed for phase 2 within 30 days of delivery.

HomeRoyaltie — FinTech SaaS for Home Equity

Senior Full Stack Developer · Next.js, TypeScript, NestJS, MongoDB, Puppeteer, AWS (EC2, S3, CodePipeline)

The problem

Home equity, second mortgages and royalty-based financing are confusing, risky and paper-heavy for most homeowners. Understanding what your house is actually worth to a lender normally means going through a loan officer or a paper-based broker — and taking their word for it.

What I built

I led all phases of development, from backend APIs through UI delivery to AWS deployment, building for security and compliance:

  • A Home Equity Analyzer that calculates real-time equity from current market rates.
  • A Royalty Model Simulator that compares a traditional second mortgage against revenue-sharing financing side by side.
  • Custom Puppeteer web scrapers pulling lender data and competitor rates so interest comparisons stay current, plus third-party API integration for live property and loan data.
  • A personalised dashboard with reports, document uploads and funding timelines, on custom REST APIs for equity, loan and payment simulations.
  • Role-based authentication with encrypted sessions, and CI/CD auto-deployment on AWS.

Outcome: Homeowners can price their own financing options in real time instead of depending on a loan officer — reducing the platform's reliance on brokers and paper-based workflows entirely.

Alive5 — Omnichannel Messaging SaaS

Full Stack Developer at Gol Technologies · React, Node.js serverless, AWS

The problem

Businesses juggle Facebook Messenger, Instagram DMs, SMS, website chat and Google Business Messages in five separate tools, and lose track of who replied to what. Agents burn time switching context and nobody can measure the conversation as a whole.

What I built

  • Multi-channel API integration across Facebook Messenger, Instagram Graph, Google Business Messages, SMS via Twilio and Nexmo, and in-app chat.
  • A real-time, event-driven conversation engine on Socket.io and WebSockets, with high-speed message indexing and querying in Elasticsearch.
  • A custom CMS for auto-responses, canned replies and rich content editing, plus the chat widget builder for non-technical staff.
  • Smart filtering by platform, keyword, customer ID, status and agent assignment, with role-based access and permissions.

Outcome: Five channels consolidated into one real-time inbox, helping businesses cut average response time by 70% and giving agents visibility across every active conversation.

HospitalsConnect — Healthcare Directory, Web & Mobile

Full Stack Developer · MERN stack, React Native, MongoDB

The problem

Patients had no single reliable place to find hospitals, diagnostic laboratories and healthcare providers, check what they offer, and book an appointment. Providers, meanwhile, had no self-service way to manage their own listing.

What I built

  • A searchable directory of hospitals, laboratories and healthcare providers on the MERN stack.
  • A provider dashboard with a calendar view so clinics manage their own availability and appointments.
  • A React Native mobile app covering the same flows, shipped to the Google Play Store — including the store listing and release process.

Outcome: Shipped on both web and Android from a shared backend, with providers self-managing their listings rather than going through support. The product is no longer publicly live — screenshots above are from the shipped build.

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions clients ask before we start working together.

Who is Bilal Khursheed?

Bilal Khursheed is a full stack developer based in Islamabad, Pakistan, with 6+ years of professional experience. He builds production web applications, SaaS platforms and mobile apps using Next.js, NestJS, React, React Native, Node.js and AWS, and is the founder of the software agency CodeBaxh.

What technologies do you work with?

Frontend: Next.js, React, Angular, TypeScript, React Native.
Backend: NestJS, Node.js, Express, Strapi, REST and GraphQL (Apollo), microservices.
Databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL, Firebase, Elasticsearch, DynamoDB.
Cloud & DevOps: AWS (EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, ECS, Route 53, Amplify), Docker, Nginx, CI/CD pipelines.
Payments: Stripe, Pagar.me.
Process: Agile & Scrum, JIRA, GitHub/GitLab.

How many years of experience do you have?

Over 6 years of professional software development experience, starting in 2019. I've worked at SLOSH AI Solution, Vizteck Solutions, Gol Technologies and Zoneomics, and delivered 62 projects across Upwork (34), my agency (10), Fiverr (10) and Freelancer (8) — 5,439 tracked hours and $100K+ earned on Upwork alone.

Are you available for freelance or contract work?

Yes — freelance, contract and long-term remote engagements. I hold Upwork Top Rated Plus status, with a 5.0 rating and $100K+ earned. Projects can start through Upwork or as a direct contract, whichever you prefer.

Which time zones do you overlap with?

I work from Pakistan Standard Time (UTC+5) and have delivered projects for clients across North America, Europe and the Middle East. That means a full working-day overlap with Europe and the Middle East, and a reliable morning overlap with US Eastern and Pacific time. I schedule calls around your working hours, not mine.

Do you build AI and LLM products?

Yes, and not just chatbot wrappers. Shipped AI work includes:

  • A legal contract analysis platform using retrieval-augmented generation over a Qdrant vector database with a multi-agent architecture, handling 500–1000 page documents.
  • Macky.ai, an AI business consultancy platform built on conversational AI and NLP.
  • Lead Rescue, a call analysis platform pairing automatic speech recognition with GPT-based intent and sentiment scoring.

Stack: OpenAI, Google Gemini, LLaMA, LangChain, Qdrant, Python and FastAPI.

Do you do Stripe and payment integrations?

Yes — payments are a recurring specialism. Completed contracts include Stripe checkout integration, adding VAT at checkout for a Kajabi product, stabilising Pagar.me payment webhooks, and fixing an expired-order cleanup job that was exhausting a database connection pool.

The hard part of payments work isn't the API call — it's idempotency. Webhooks have to stay correct under retries, timeouts and duplicate events, or customers get double-charged and your reconciliation stops matching. That's the part I focus on.

Can you take over an existing codebase?

Yes — a large share of my work is inheriting existing production systems. The sequence is usually: audit the codebase, document what's actually there, fix the stability and performance problems, then start adding features. I also handle migrations such as moving a legacy frontend to Next.js or a monolith backend to NestJS.

Do you build mobile apps too?

Yes, using React Native so iOS and Android ship from one codebase. I've published to the Google Play Store — including the HospitalsConnect healthcare app — and handle the full release and store-listing process, not just the code.

What engagement models do you offer?

  • Fixed-scope project — agreed milestones, timeline and price up front. Best when the scope is clear.
  • Monthly retainer — a set capacity each month for ongoing product work. Best for continuous roadmaps.
  • Hourly contract — for maintenance, audits, or short pieces of work where scope is genuinely unknown.

How do we get started?

Send a short brief through the contact form, by email, or on WhatsApp. We'll have a free discovery call to scope the work, and you'll get a written proposal covering deliverables, timeline, milestones and price before any code is written.
